Lochsa Watershed

The drainage basin for the Lochsa River system covers about 750,000 acres in Idaho County. The river feeds from the melting snow pack of the Bitterroot Range, a sub range of the Rocky Mountains that runs along the border of Idaho and Montana. The Lochsa River runs about 70 miles from its headwaters to the confluence with the Selway River at Lowell. The Lochsa and Selway form the Middle Fork of the Clearwater at about 1400 feet above sea level.
